On the Saturday of Easter weekend I went along to the Woodlands House Country Hotel in Brent Knoll to do the hair and make up for Blanca, her mum and sister.
The bridal party were Spanish and they had a lot of their family staying at the small hotel, that meant only one thing…. It was very loud! But it was so much fun, and to be honest hearing lots of people around me speaking in Spanish made me feel like I was on holiday!
Blanca’s sister opted for a lovely simple hair style, it was a volumised half up half down style with small braided details at the side. Fir her make up I created depth on the outer third of the eyes with a brown tone and used black gel liner on the outer third only. I kept the skin nice a glowy with a cc cream and a mineral powder over the top and finished off the look with a light pink lipstick.
Blanca’s mum hardly spoke any english so after a few hand gestures to indicate the hair style she wanted I went through and straightened her hair but flicked the ends, I then put volume through the top with some plumping powder. For her make up I kept it fairly natural with the skin and a soft definition on the eyes, but we finished it off with a bright red lip! I am judging by the thumbs up and the si si si that she was happy!
For Blanca we wanted to create a softly curled side style that had a twisted braid around the back and then all the curls were gathered to the side. Blanca had ordered a lovely headpiece that had peach toned flowers in that finished the style perfectly. For her make up we kept the skin looking soft with a glow, again using a cc cream with a mineral powder and a soft peach blush. Here eyes were defined with a soft and a deep brown shadow and a winged gel liner. To finish off we used a peachy pink lipstick which was Blanca’s own.
I had so much fun with them all and even had an invite to Madrid…..when is the next flight?!
Congratulations Blanca, thank you for including me in your special day!
On good Friday I did the hair and and make up for Becky and her mum and bridesmaids. Becky was getting married at Hotel Du Vin but we were getting her ready at home.
I started with the bridesmaids hair, they wanted the same style for all three of them, I started off by curling the hair. I then did a reverse french braid from one side round to the back, then with the remaining hair I created a messy side bun. For mum I straightend the hair and softly flicked the ends out.
For Becky I curled the hair and then created a very low up do, Becky’s hair was quite short but the style worked well and she had a really cute comb to put in which finished the style perfectly. She didn’t want it to be too neat and structured so we left wispy bits out to give a messier finish.
For the make up we went for natural looking skin, Becky suffered with eczema so we didn’t want to build up too much on the skin as it may make it look more obvious. I used a soft brown on the socket line and outer third of the eyes along with a black gel liner along the top lash line and a khol liner on the bottom water line. To finish off I used a nude lip liner, Boldly Bare and a soft pink lip stick, Love Lorn both from mac.
Becky’s dress was so beautiful and simple and she just looked stunningly beautiful!
Congratulations Becky, thank you for having me as part of your special day.
Back in February I worked with Hannah and her bridal party doing Hair and Make Up for her special day. I went along to a lovely cottage on the outskirts of Bristol called the Chapel to get them ready before they travelled over to Leigh Court for the actual ceremony and reception.
I met with Hannah along with her mum and one of her Bridesmaids in early January to do her trial, I knew I was in for a good wedding morning with them all straight away as the whole trial was filled with laughter.
The morning of the wedding was no different, especially when it was filled with stories of Hannah’s and her sisters childhood memories (don’t worry, what I hear in the make up seat, stays in the make up seat!).
I set to work with the bridesmaids styling their hair, they all had different styles that suited them but it was pulled together with beautiful hair accessories from Keli Thompson. I also did a blow dry for Mum and a friend of Hannah’s too.
For the Bride herself we went with a fresh looking base using a mix of Arbonnes CC Cream and MAC Face and Body, and a soft pink blush. For the eyes Hannah wanted a well defined look so I used the Naked3 Palette from Urban Decay to create the look using light to dark browns and a hint of a deep plumy brown tone, individual lashes and winged liner finished off the look. To complete the make up we went with a coral red for the lips.
Hannah’s hair was a french pleat with a vintage twist, using the basic form of the french twist I used the remaining hair at the top to create a large pin curl for detail. The style was completed with a sparkly comb.
I had a great time with Hannah and her family, it was a pleasure to have been part of her big day!
I was super excited about Melissa’s wedding as it was a 1920’s inspired theme which meant there was going to be some heavier make up involved!
When I met Melissa at her trial, I felt like I had known her for years, which made doing her make up even easier! On a day to day basis she wears a fair bit of make up (by her own confession….not mine!) so she didn’t want to be any different on her wedding day!
Just lips to be added and hair to be finished!
We wanted to stick with the twenties theme and go with an exaggerated winged eye liner, Melissa had perfect eyes for this look. I built up the eye shadow with browns and a soft grey and then went fairly heavy with the eyeliner, and of course some flare lashes! I used Melissa’s own foundation as she likes the coverage it gives. Contouring and Highlighting worked well with this look and to finish it off a ruby red lip!
As the hotel rooms were some what cosy I didn’t stay to see Melissa in her dress but she sent me some photos and she looked amazing! Her sister-in-law did her hair and she was picture perfect!
I also did a couple of the bridesmaids make up and they all looked lovely!
The wedding was at the Square on Berkley Square in Clifton, which was a perfect setting!
Congratulations Melissa, I hope your day was everything you dreamed of!
