I have known Katie and her family for about ten years and as soon as she got engaged I was asked to do her wedding hair and make up!
Katie pretty much left it up to me as to what she had done, I know she doesn’t wear a huge amount of make up so I didn’t want to go over the top, but she does have amazing lashes so her eyes definitely had to be a feature. Normally I use individual flare lashes on brides to give extra fullness to the lashes but with Katie’s they tend to curve round with the eye lid towards the edges of the eye, this wouldn’t work well with false lashes so a few days before the wedding we permed that lashes instead (this will also last for the honeymoon too!)
I gave more definition to the socket line on the eyes, using a pinky brown and then applied a brown gel liner. For the skin I kept if fresh looking and flawless with a mixture of mac face and body foundation and Arbonne’s cc cream, to finish the skin I used a light dusting of Arbonnes mineral powder. To finish the whole look I did a coat of rosy vaseline (I don’t know what I did with out this in my life!) so the lips had a pinky sheen to them but nothing too full on.
I have been cutting Katie’s hair for the past four years so I know her hair pretty well, she definitely wanted it down but was worried it wouldn’t hold the curls. To ensure it did I sprayed hair spray on each layer before I curled it and then again after.
I was invited to attend the wedding which was lovely, although I had forgotten how stressful it can be to work and attend wedding at the same time! I was with the bridal party at 7:30am and did hair and make up for the bride, mother of the bride and five bridesmaids….. I just managed to get my dress on in time to grab my seat and watch Katie walk down the aisle!
Thank you for having me as part of your special day Katie, I wish you and Gary all the happiness in the world!
